Formula 1 extends deal till 2025
The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort has signed a deal through 2025.
The arrangement adds two more F1 races in 2024 and 2025.
The event has been popular among Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fans since 2021.
The Dutch driver has won both races at the ancient track in Amsterdam.
Former Formula E champion Nyck de Vries will join Williams in 2023.
“The Dutch Grand Prix has quickly become a fan favorite, offering fantastic enthusiasm and a great spectator experience every year,” said Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“The sold-out events in the last two years have lifted the standard in organization, entertainment, and sustainability, and we’re thrilled to continue working with them.”
Next year’s Dutch Grand Prix will occur on August 25-27, after F1’s summer break.
The Belgian Grand Prix has usually held the slot, but it will be held 28-30 July in 2023.
Belgium’s status on the calendar is threatened by its outmoded facilities and lack of a contract after next year.
Zandvoort conducted 32 races from 1950 through 1985, when the schedule grew and race expenses rose.
Verstappen’s win reinvigorated F1 in his native nation, and Dutch promoters revived the race.
The race was scheduled to resume in 2020 but was cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, recent developments have prompted F1 and local authorities to prolong its original three-year pact.
