Shaheen Shah Afridi, a left-arm bowler, will not play in the two-match Test series against New Zealand that begins on December 27 in Karachi.

Haris Rauf will not be participating in the second Test against England, which will begin on December 9 at Multan.

At the MCG during the World T20 championship game, Shaheen Afridi sustained an injury. The T20 world cup marked Afridi’s comeback to international cricket following a knee injury he sustained during the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

On Sunday, the left-arm pacer arrived in Lahore to begin his recovery process.

Shaheen’s rehabilitation would take close to 15 days, according to a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official, after which they would review the severity of his injury again. Shaheen won’t be available for selection in the upcoming two-match series against New Zealand.

He stated: “The PCB wants Shaheen to heal fully from the injury enabling him to spearhead Pakistan’s pace attack because there are some big international obligations of the national squad next year.” Afridi would participate in any national or international competition after fully recovered, he added.

Haris Rauf, a right-arm pacer, will not be able to play in the Multan Test, as the physiotherapists have advised complete rest for the next ten days as a result of an injury sustained on the fourth day of the first Test against England.

For the third Test, which will begin on December 17 at the National Stadium Karachi, Haris will be available. However, given the Pakistan cricket team’s commitments for the upcoming season, his selection in the third Test appears uncertain.

On the fourth day of the test match, Pakistan’s Azhar Ali, the middle order batsman, also left the field when English pacer Ollie Robinson struck him in the hand.

“Azhar was struck on the tip of his right index finger, and the medical professionals are currently keeping an eye on him. When more information becomes available, I will provide updates, a PCB representative stated in a succinct statement.

Following Shaheen’s injury in the T20 World Cup final, PCB revealed that scans had revealed “no symptoms of an injury,” but that he had been instructed to undergo a two-week rehabilitation.

Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan was advised to undergo a two-week rehabilitation programme after landing awkwardly when taking Harry Brook’s catch during Sunday’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final in Melbourne, according to a statement from the PCB.

Before the squad left for Pakistan, the board reported that scans revealed “no signs of an injury.” The source of the knee pain, it continued, was probably “due to a forced knee bending when landing.”

Following a conversation between Australian knee expert Dr. Peter D’Alessandro and PCB Chief Medical Officer Dr. Najeebullah Soomro, a statement was released.
