An audio tale about Lionel Messi‘s journey to World Cup victory that was played on Argentine radio brought tears to his eyes.

The article “Lionel’s suitcase,” written by Argentine journalist Hernan Casciari and scheduled for magazine publication, detailed Messi’s early years at Barcelona as well as his brief absence from the national team in 2016.

According to Marca, the story reached the 35-year-old PSG player after being broadcast on “Perros de la Calle” and uploaded on YouTube.

He and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo were moved to tears by Casciari’s narrative, and they sent an audio WhatsApp message to the radio show, which also brought on tears from the author and broadcaster Andy Kusnetzoff.

Messi said in the real and intimate audio tape that he and his wife were moved to tears when they heard the story over breakfast and were reminded of some of the challenges and triumphs that helped him achieve greatness.

The 51-year-old, who was at Barcelona during Messi‘s formative years with the Catalan club, felt inspired to share the story.

After missing a penalty in the 2016 Copa America final loss to Chile, Messi immediately declared his retirement from the Argentina national team.

With help from all throughout the nation, including a letter from Enzo Fernandez when he was only 15 years old, he eventually rejoined the global community.

On Sunday, Argentina defeated France in a World Cup final penalty shootout, with Messi scoring once again. Fernandez, now a midfielder for Benfica, was there with Messi.

In spite of ongoing rumours linking Messi back to the Nou Camp, which he departed in the summer of 2021, the player just verbally confirmed that he will stay with PSG for at least another year.
