Pak vs Eng: Pakistan wins toss, chose to bat first
KARACHI: Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat first against England on the first day of the third and final Test at the National Stadium in Karachi.
England is on its first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005. They lead the series 2-0 after winning the first game in Rawalpindi by 74 runs and the second game in Multan by 26 runs.
The tourists made two changes from the last test. Instead of James Anderson and Will Jacks, they brought in wicketkeeper Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed.
At 18 years and 126 days old, Rehan becomes England’s youngest player, beating the record set by Brian Close in 1949.
Ben Stokes said about the new player, “Very exciting times for him, his family, and English cricket as well.”
Senior Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali stated that the Karachi Test would be his last on Friday.
Shan Masood, Mohammad Wasim Junior, and Nauman Ali replace Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Zahid Mahmood, and Mohammad Ali. Wasim’s first test score is 21.
After Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam won the toss, he said, “We will try to get a score and put pressure on them.”
Teams: Pakistan: Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Shafique, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Agha Salman, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Abrar Ahmed, Nauman Ali
England: Ben Stokes (captain), Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Mark Wood, and Rehan Ahmed.
