PCB denies Ramiz Raja’s allegations regarding Najam Sethi’s expenditures
The Chairman PCB Management Committee Najam Sethi’s expenditure claims made by former PCB head Ramiz Raja were rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
“Former chairman Raja’s comparison of his and Sethi’s expenses during his previous term is misleading and inaccurate as the circumstances are incomparable,” the board said in a statement.
The PCB backed up its denial with specifics, claiming that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was organised in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on numerous occasions between 2016 and 2018.
He asserted that Sethi has never received PSL allowances and that the information has only been provided as a prospective payment.
PCB has expressed its disappointment over the comments made and language used by former Chairman Mr Ramiz Raja against the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Mr Najam Sethi

“In contrast, PSL 2022 was held under former Chairman Mr Raja and was staged only in Karachi and Lahore,” the statement noted.
Since the PSL and Pakistan’s domestic international matches were played outside of Pakistan under Sethi’s previous term, the PCB claimed that “foreign tour expenses are expensive” for Sethi.
The board explained that as a result, the incumbent chairman had to frequently travel to the UAE for PSL, bilateral series, and related meetings.
“All travel expenses were approved by the appropriate authorities and were duly audited (internally and externally),” the statement mentioned.
According to the Board of Governors’ decision, the current Sethi received a car allowance because he had to drive his own armoured vehicle owing to security threats.
It instead pointed out that the PCB had given the outgoing chairman a brand-new armoured car for a staggering Rs16.5 million.
According to the board, the current chairman’s security costs were high because he required extra protection because he was a former chief minister of Punjab.
“Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch Punjab had issued advised of threats to him,” the PCB added.
“It is pertinent to remember that the current chairman had sent a legal notice to the PCB regarding the table of expenses as soon as these were made public through the PCB corporate website,” it added.
