Ramiz Raja, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stated that Western teams cannot be sent to Peshawar at this time.

Following PCB CEO Faisal Hasnain’s statement, Ramiz expressed reservations about holding international cricket in Peshawar in the near future.

“We can’t bring Western teams in Peshawar right now,” the PCB chief told media.

The Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar is currently under construction, with the goal of hosting high-profile cricket matches in the near future.

“But, we can assure you that soon Peshawar will get to host some PSL matches,” the chairman shared.

A day earlier, PCB’s CEO shared that foreign players are not allowed to travel to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

“Foreign players are not allowed to travel to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan by their countries. They are asked to stay cautious,” he told media.

Meanwhile, Raja bemoaned the lease mechanism used to gain ownership of stadiums in Pakistan. “PCB does not have a stadium of its own. Every time, we have to obtain a lease from the local authorities “He was adamant.

“We did development work in Faisalabad Stadium which was later given to a political party for their public gathering [Jalsa]. We planned to host the Bangladesh U19 team in Faisalabad but it wasn’t possible due to the poor state of the ground after political gathering,” he disclosed.

PCB had to sign a leasing contract with Multan’s local administration on Friday in order to occupy Multan Cricket Stadium.
