Thomas Frank, the head coach of Brentford, on Saturday agreed to a new five-year deal that will last until the summer of 2027.

The 49-year-old was named Bees manager in October 2018 and guided the team to Premier League promotion in 2020–21.

Last season, the Dane led Brentford to a 13th-place finish. The standout performances were beating Arsenal on opening night, tying Liverpool 3-3 in September, and defeating Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge in April.

“Running a club as the head coach has its highs and lows, just like any relationship. I’ve been here for a total of six years, which is a long period in modern football. I want to thank the supporters for their support of the players, the staff, and everyone else associated with the club.

“Every time I meet a Bees fan, the warmth, encouragement, and friendliness are astounding, and it gives me more motivation to carry on with the job in the future.

In our first season, we targeted the Premier League, and in our second season, we are attacking it. I hope to see us advance further and have more magical moments with you,” he continued.

After 15 games, Brentford is in 10th place in the Premier League after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City in their last match before the World Cup break in Qatar.

“I am really happy that we have reached an agreement with Thomas on this new deal, and I’m sure I speak for everyone at Brentford when I say that. Director of football Phil Giles said, “It is well earned after some good results and performances in the last 18 months.

“Thomas has in-depth understanding of the game, but perhaps more crucially, he has the ability to motivate the players and forge close bonds with our staff. He has established himself as a Premier League-caliber head coach, but he still keeps an open mind to keep growing and getting better,” the source continued.

As an assistant head coach, Frank joined Brentford for the first time in December 2016. Before becoming the head coach of Brondby in 2013, he served as a youth coach with the Danish FA at various levels up to the under-19 level. Before leaving for west London, Frank guided Brondby to back-to-back top-four finishes.

Frank, who is only the second person to have led the Bees in the top division, holds the record for the most victories in his first 200 managerial contests (90). Malky MacDonald (163) and Harry Curtis (306) have topped his tally of wins as manager in club history, which he shares with David Webb in third place (91).
