Tiger Woods, winner of 15 major championships, will play in this weekend’s PNC Championship with his son Charlie, who is 13 years old, despite warning on Friday that doing so could slow down his return from injury.

The Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida will host a parent-child golf tournament over the course of 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The Woods tandem, who finished second in 2020, will be making their third straight appearance.

Woods has commented, “Any time I get to spend time with my son is always precious.” It’s been a fantastic couple of years. We anticipate it with great interest.

Woods noted that he missed the Bahamas invitational earlier this month because to plantar fasciitis in his right foot and that participation in this tournament might slow down his recuperation.

It’s not anything that interests me,” Woods replied. Having the opportunity to share this experience with my son is more valuable than not having a completely functional foot at the moment.

After suffering serious leg injuries in a vehicle accident in 2021, Woods, who will turn 47 on December 30, has participated in only nine competitive rounds this year.

Woods withdrew from the PGA Championship after the first three rounds due to leg pain, and he missed the cut at the British Open at St. Andrews in July after finishing 47th at the Masters in his comeback event.

I played more this year than I would have guessed at the beginning of the year, Woods said. But I was able to participate in three big tournaments. That is a lot more than I anticipated at the start of the year. So in that sense it has been productive.

For 2023, Woods has no concrete plans, but he would like to play in the top leagues again.

Woods stated, “I’d have a better notion if I didn’t have the plantar feeling like this.” “I should be giving this thing some downtime, stretching it out, and letting it heal. However, at the present time I am not engaging in that activity.

Woods, who has 82 PGA Tour victories and is tied with Sam Snead for the record, competed in a 12-hole exhibition match with carts last weekend but still has trouble walking 18 holes.

“There hasn’t been much of a break this offseason. “I’ve kind of stepped it up,” Woods remarked. But after Monday, we’re stopping everything to focus on my foot so that I may gradually increase my workload.

I have the ability to train. Really, I just can’t move. I have good golfing skills. This is completely within my capabilities. I’m fairly competent with shots near the green. I have no idea how to travel from A to B.

On Friday, Charlie Woods sprained his ankle, causing him a limp like his famous father’s. Luckily, the PNC lets participants to utilize golf carts.

Woods assured the audience that they will be prepared for the game.
