ACB approached PCB after CA cancelled ODI series
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) approached the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday after Cricket Australia (CA) cancelled the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series.
Afghanistan has expressed a wish to play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in March, according to reports.
The PCB is exploring a three-match series following the conclusion of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and before the New Zealand series.
Pakistan and Afghanistan will also play three Super League games in August.
It should be remembered that Cricket Australia withdrew from the three-match one-day International (ODI) series in March on Thursday, citing Taliban moves to further restrict women’s rights.
Afghanistan is the only full member nation without a working women’s team because of limitations imposed by the Taliban-led administration. In accordance with official policy, girls are not allowed in parks, middle and high schools, or gyms.
The International Cricket Council will be contacted about the situation, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) stated in a statement (ICC).
According to an ACB statement, “Cricket Australia’s deplorable decision to pull out of Afghanistan’s home three-match ODI series in March is highly disappointing and saddening, and we will formally write to the International Cricket Council about the situation.”
The board termed the decision to pull out of the series “an unfortunate attempt to enter the domain of politics and politicise the sport” as it came after “consultation and probable enforcement from the Australian Government”.
It is worth noting that Afghan bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has withdrawn from the Big Bash League (BBL) after Australia cancelled the series, while Rashid Khan has stated that he will “seriously evaluate” his future in the league.
