Ashleigh Gardner, Australia’s No. 1 ranked all-rounder, has capped off a fantastic year by winning the Women’s Player of the Month award for December 2022.

Gardner beat out England’s Charlie Dean and New Zealand opener Suzie Bates for the coveted monthly award following her outstanding individual performance against India last month.

The 25-year-old scored 115 runs at an above-average pace while picking up seven wickets, which was tied for the most in the five-match series against India.

It was expected that Gardner would win Player of the Series for her performances in India, and she added the monthly ICC award to the celebration.

It brings to a close a fantastic year for Gardner, who helped Australia win the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and then the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Gardner is a gifted all-rounder.

Toward the end of the year, Gardner also reached new heights in the Women’s All-rounder rankings, passing West Indies captain Hayley Matthews to take the top spot globally in that division.
