• Novak Djokovic climbed four spots from World No. 5 to secure position.

In the most recent ATP rankings, which were revealed on Monday, Novak Djokovic reclaimed the top spot after winning his 10th Australian Open championship.

In the final on Sunday, Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6(4), and 7-6(5) to win his 22nd Grand Slam championship, tying Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam victories.

The Serbian made the biggest jump to the top of the men’s tennis summit between two editions of the ATP Rankings in history by climbing four spots from World No. 5 to secure the position (since 1973). Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, the current U.S. Open champion, was deposed by the 35-year-old and is currently ranked second.

The four-spot elevation represents a greater leap than the three-spot ascent that Carlos Alcaraz (12, September 2022), Pete Sampras (11, September 2000), Andre Agassi (05, July 1999), and Carlos Moya previously achieved (March 15, 1999).

If Djokovic held onto the top spot through the week of February 20, he would equal Stefanie Graf’s record of 377 weeks as the men’s and women’s World No. 1 in history.

Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, went from second to sixth after losing to Mackenzie McDonald of the USA in the second round.

Tsitsipas climbed one spot and recovered to his career-high World No. 3 position after competing in his second Grand Slam final, finishing 875 points behind Djokovic.

Holger Rune of Denmark attained a new career-high position of No. 9 in the world. Daniil Medvedev, who finished second last year, dropped four spots to place 12 and dropped out of the top 10.
