Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, was left off of the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year (2022).

In 26 T20I games he participated in in 2022, Babar scored 735 runs, averaging 31.95, including a century. Additionally, he represented Pakistan in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup and Asia Cup finals.

Jos Buttler of England was chosen as the team’s shorter format captain. The team’s victory at the T20 World Cup in Australia in November was led by the wicketkeeper batter. Buttler scored 462 runs in 2022 at a blistering strike rate of 160.41.

The T20I team of 2022 also includes Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Haris Rauf.

Rizwan, who won the best T20I cricketer of the year award in 2021, scored 996 runs last year, which was second only to Suryakumar Yadav of India. Here, it is important to point out that Rizwan is one of the contenders for ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year (2022).

After claiming 31 wickets in 2022, Haris has joined the pace attack of the ICC T20I squad of the year.

The starting XI includes Virat Kohli and Yadav from India.
