In 44 games in 2022, he amassed 2598 runs at an average of 54.12, with eight hundreds and fifteen half-centuries.

“It’s difficult to imagine that Babar Azam even further raised his game throughout 2022, as the inspirational skipper broke more individual records and ensured Pakistan’s star continued to shine brilliantly,” the International Cricket Council said in a news statement.

“Babar was the only player to exceed the 2000-run mark during the calendar year across all formats.

“During the calendar year, Babar’s haul of eight hundreds and seventeen fifties was his best of his career to date, and there’s no doubt the powerful right-hander is currently at the top of his game.”
