When Pakistani batter Iftikhar Ahmed and Fortune Barishal captain Shakib Al Hasan faced off against Rangpur Riders on Thursday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, they both made history.

Barishal was in trouble at 46-4 when Iftikhar was put in to bat, but the Pakistani batsman responded to the challenge and put up a huge 192-run stand with captain Shakib for the fifth wicket to assist his team collect a whopping 238 runs.

The two were the highest fifth-wicket partnerships in T20 history thanks to their partnership.

Prior to now, Adam Hose and Dan Mousley’s 171 run fifth-wicket partnership held the record.

Iftikhar, who scored a remarkable 100 runs for his team off just 45 balls while hitting six fours and nine maximums, was outstanding.

The Bangladeshi batsman, who faced 43 balls, scored 89 runs, including six sixes and nine fours.

It is important to note that this was Iftikhar’s first T20 hundred at this point.

In this season’s BPL, Iftikhar is the third hitter to record a century. Azam Khan and Usman Khan, the other two centurions, are both Pakistani.
