Jasprit Bumrah will return to the Indian national team for the next one-day international series against Sri Lanka after a three-month layoff.

Bumrah has been out of action since September due to a back stress response. He has been rehabbing at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. National selectors have found his recuperation sufficient, sources reports.

He increased his training and bowling during the past week, resulting in his participation in the squad. The BCCI stated the NCA pronounced the bowler fit after rehabilitation. He’ll shortly join India’s ODI team.

sources claimed that Bumrah was fit when India’s squads for the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka were named on December 27; nevertheless, the selectors were hesitant to rush him back due to the recurrence of his back problem in the home T20Is against Australia in 2017. Thus, Bumrah was unable to participate in India’s 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where they ultimately fell to eventual champions England in the semi-finals.

According to reports, Bumrah’s rehabilitation and recovery report was examined at the BCCI’s performance assessment meeting on Monday, which led to a shift in the organization’s selection policy. Bumrah’s return to full match fitness is apparently a priority for the team’s management as they prepare for February’s four-Test series against Australia.
