Peshawar Zalmi, a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, is expected to hire wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal as a coach for the upcoming season.

The news broke during an exclusive interview with Wahab Riaz, a star Pakistani pacer who has been retained by the franchise in the diamond category.

Kamran Akmal has not been selected by any PSL franchise for the eighth season. He has been a member of the Zalmi team since the franchise league’s inception.

When asked about the absence of the wicket-keeper batter, the left-arm pacer said, “Surely, Kamran Akmal’s absence will be felt.”

However, the 37-year-old pacer expressed hope that the Zalmi management is considering the Lahore-born cricketer for the eighth edition’s coaching setup.

Kamran Akmal, who played for the Men in Yellow from 2016 to 2022, is the PSL’s second-highest scorer with 1,972 runs in 74 innings.

Many veteran Pakistani cricketers, including Kamran Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, and Mohammad Hafeez, went unsold in the PSL 8th draught.

The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League will begin on February 13 with a grand opening ceremony at the Multan Cricket Stadium. PZ will also play an exhibition game against the Quetta Gladiators on February 13 at the Bugti Stadium.
