La Liga: Elche’s Ezequiel Ponce broke his team’s five-match losing streak with a goal in the 81st minute against Cadiz in the ongoing La Liga 2022/23.

When Brian Ocampo scored the game’s first goal in the seventh minute, Cadiz had the game well in hand.

Elche attempted to make up for the early deficit by making some close calls, but Jeremias Ledesma stopped them to maintain the hosts’ advantage.

After ultimately eluding the Cadiz defence and scoring an equaliser in the 81st minute, Ponce gave his team the momentum they needed to keep the home team Cadiz to a 1-1 draw.
Their first win came against Cadiz following five straight losses, and their winless streak had now lasted 17 games.

After fellow underdogs Cadiz halted their losing streak by defeating Valencia, Elche was the only other team left without a victory.

Elche, after forcing the draw, remained at the very bottom with just five points, while Cadiz rose to the position of 18.
