Marcus Rashford was dropped for Saturday’s Premier League match
Marcus Rashford, a forward for Manchester United, started the weekend’s Premier League encounter against Wolves but started on the bench because of “internal disciplinary issues.”
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, said in a television interview before the game that Rashford was not going to play.
The 25-year-old had been in fantastic form for his club this season, scoring in United’s past two games. His most recent goal was a fine individual effort in last week’s League Cup fourth round triumph over Burnley.
Additionally, Rashford helped Gareth Southgate’s England team to the World Cup quarterfinals with three goals.
On Saturday, United faced Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, but Rashford did not start due to the fact that Alejandro Garnacho replaced him following the team’s victory over Nottingham Forest.
Ten Hag refused to elaborate on the reasoning behind benching Rashford, saying simply that “our rules” were to blame during a pregame interview with Sport source.
United is on a four-game winning streak across all competitions and will attempt to extend it, while Wolves will try to move away from the relegation zone.
