Memphis Depay, a winger for FC Barcelona and the Netherlands, is on the verge of joining La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

Joao Felix, who joined Chelsea on a six-month loan, has been replaced by Depay, who Atletico believes is the best option.

Depay is willing to sign a six-month loan contract with La Rojiblancos in January because, according to MARCA, his deal with Barcelona is slated to expire in the summer.

Atletico Madrid has intensified talks with La Blaugrana for the Dutch winger as they have now shown more definite interest in the attacker than any of his previous suitors.

Depay has struggled this season for Barcelona, falling behind players like Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres in the lineup.

However, Xavi Hernandez, the manager of Barcelona, has said that he is not aware of Depay’s potential move to Madrid.

Xavi recently stated that he would be happy if his existing squad remained intact, indicating that he is not ready to offload any of his current players.
