Mohammad Amir, a veteran pacer from Pakistan, has now taken 50 wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), tying Shahid Afridi’s previous record set in the competition.

Amir reached the milestone during the home team’s match against Khulna Tigers on Monday while playing for Sylhet Superstars in the current BPL season.

The left-arm pacer misled Mahmudul Hasan Joy with a slower delivery as he hit on the opening ball of his second over.

Amir joined the exclusive list of bowlers who needed fewer innings to reach 50 wickets in Bangladesh’s premier league with his first wicket of the present 30th BPL game.

Kevon Cooper, a former West Indian bowler, tops the list after reaching the milestone in just 30 games, and is followed on the list by Dwayne Bravo, another citizen of the same country (34).

Pakistan’s top all-rounder Afridi, who previously occupied the third slot, has now been joined by fellow countryman Amir after the latter claimed 50 wickets in 35 BPL contests.

It is worth noting that Amir has bowled two overs in the current match and has taken one wicket for 17 runs.
