Najam Sethi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management committee, slammed Jay Shah, President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after the latter announced the pathway structure and cricket calendar for 2023-24, which included groups for the Asia Cup 2023.

On Thursday, Shah released the schedule, and Pakistan and India have been assigned to the same group for the 2023 Asia Cup.

Moreover, Sethi chastised the council’s president for “unilaterally” making choices without consulting or discussing with the rest of the stakeholders, including the PCB, which is hosting an Asian event this year.

“Thank you, Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting ACC’s structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated,” he tweet about it.

It should be mentioned that ex-PCB chairman Ramiz Raja stated in October last year that Pakistan will not travel to India for the ICC World Cup 2023 if India pulls out of the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

The comment came after Shah declared that India will not attend the Asian tournament in Pakistan. His announcement surprised Pakistan, with PCB authorities warning that it could “divide” the world cricket community.
