In the second ODI, Pakistan held New Zealand to 261 runs thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by spinner Mohammad Nawaz.

Since it appeared at one point that New Zealand would easily record a total in excess of 300, the left-4-38 armer’s in 10 overs allowed Pakistan to get back into the match.

Despite losing Finn Allen (1) in the first over, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway put the Kiwis in control with a fantastic partnership of 181 runs.

However, Conway’s exit, after which Naseem Shah cleaned him out after he had scored 101 runs in 92 balls, sparked a colossal collapse.

Nawaz was the driving force behind New Zealand’s last nine wickets, which they lost for just 78 runs. 10 fours let Kane Williamson score 85 runs. Earlier, in the second ODI of the series at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, New Zealand had won the toss and chosen to bat first against Pakistan.

While Ish Sodhi replaces Henry Shipley as the pacer for New Zealand, Pakistan remains unaltered. In the three-match series, the home team is in the lead 1-0. It should be mentioned that Pakistan defeated New Zealand in the opening one-day international on Monday with a six-wicket victory thanks to fast bowler Naseem Shah’s five wicket haul in Karachi.

Mohammad Rizwan (77 not out), skipper Babar Azam (66) and Fakhar Zaman (56) then helped Pakistan cruise to victory with 11 balls to spare. The third and final ODI is on Friday, also in Karachi.
