Salman Butt expressed his displeasure with Haris Rauf
Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, expressed his displeasure with speedster Haris Rauf after the Men in Green were defeated by New Zealand in the most recent ODI series.
Butt questioned Rauf’s lack of pace during the third ODI, which was played on Friday in Karachi. Rauf went wicketless and gave up 41 runs in seven overs.
“My disappointment with the Pakistani bowlers is greatest. How did they behave? Does the speed have to be deposited in the bank? You didn’t bowl a yorker or a bouncer, either. You were hit by the batter for mid-wicket and in front of square for six. No bouncers and no yorkers! I believe Haris Rauf bowled 10 slower balls in his first two overs at one point, Butt claimed on his YouTube channel.
“You are a true runner. You bowl quickly. What is your top speed? Why didn’t you attempt a yorker? Even if you missed a yorker, hitting a lower full throw for a six is difficult,” he noted.
It should be mentioned that Glenn Phillips hit an unbeaten half-century as New Zealand won the series against Pakistan with a two-wicket victory in the third and final ODI.
Phillips smashed four sixes and four fours in his 63-ball 63 to help New Zealand recover from a dangerous 181-5 in pursuit of a 281-run mark.
His innings overshadowed Fakhar Zaman’s 101 as Pakistan scored 280-9 in 50 overs.
Phillips came in to bat with New Zealand needing 100 off 87 balls, and he and Mitchell Santner combined 64 for the seventh wicket in a match-winning stand.
Kane Williamson led the way with 53, and Devon Conway added 52 before Phillips ended the chase with 11 balls to spare.
Phillips hit his maiden ODI fifty off 28 deliveries, however he was out the next delivery when wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan failed to hold a catch off spinner Usama Mir.
With their triumph, New Zealand won their first ODI series against Pakistan in six tries and maintained their lead in the one-day rankings.
