Shubman Gill scored his third ODI century at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the first game of the current three-game series against New Zealand.

For the first time in his international career, Gill scored back-to-back tonnes, and he also reached the three-figure barrier against Sri Lanka on Sunday (January 15).

During his innings, Gill also reached the milestone of 1,000 ODI runs. He is the quickest Indian to reach the milestone, having done it in in 19 innings.

Gill smashed the record previously held by Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. It took both senior cricketers 24 innings to reach the milestone.

In addition, Gill and Imam Ul-Haq both reached 1,000 ODI runs the fastest in the history of cricket. The only other player to reach 1000 ODI runs sooner than the Asian pair is Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman (18).
