Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed hope for the future and pride in his achievements despite losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final on Sunday.

The third seed lost to the Serbian great on Rod Laver Arena 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), and 7-6 (7/5) despite trying to become the first Greek player in history to win a Grand Slam.

Nevertheless, Tsitsipas opened the season with a 10-match winning streak and advanced to only his second major final, an accomplishment that he said made him pleased.

“Given the conditions of today, there are undoubtedly things I can develop and get better at. However, I don’t see why I should be upset by today’s loss “According to the 24-year-old.

“It is a positive move. I’m looking forward to scoring more points this season, producing better outcomes, and competing for greater awards.

“I appreciate my game, my approach on the court, my mental stability, and my concentration levels.

“There’s still more work to be done on the overall framework of my game. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be moving in that direction.”

When the new rankings are released on Monday, Tsitsipas—who has talked about a newfound maturity this year—will rise to third place in the world.

Even though he was defeated by 10-time Australian champion Djokovic, he persevered when put to the test throughout the event.

He prevailed in a grueling five-setter against Jannik Sinner in the fourth round by remaining composed and digging deep, and he recovered fast when Karen Khachanov pushed their semifinal to a fourth set.

But he acknowledged that in Serbia’s Djokovic, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, he had met his match.

“There’s nothing else I could have gotten out of today. I tried everything I could “He stated.

“Novak is a player who tests you to the maximum. This does not strike me as a curse. This does not bother me in the least.

“It is tremendously beneficial to the sport to have opponents and champions like him.

“He’s critical for us because we want to get to his point one day.”
