Barcelona suffered a 1-0 defeat to Almeria in the top Spanish League on Sunday, thanks to El-Bilal Toure’s winner.

Barcelona, who is currently leading La Liga, blew the chance to increase their lead over Real Madrid, who is currently in second place, to 10 points after Real Madrid’s tense 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The Catalan Giants’ seven-game winning streak in La Liga was broken by the disappointing outcome, which came just days after Manchester United eliminated the team from the Europa League.

When Luis Suarez sent an exquisite long pass to Toure, who was slipping behind the opposition’s defence, in the 24th minute, Almeria capitalised on the home advantage and demonstrated their dominance in the first half with a goal. The forward from Mali sprinted towards the area and unleashed a powerful shot that hit the crossbar.

Only eight goals have been given up by Barcelona so far this year.

In the second half, Barcelona made five substitutions but was unable to overcome Almeria’s organised defence.

Almeria recorded their first victory after eight games and picked up three significant points in their fight to avoid the drop.

On Sunday, Osasuna defeated Sevilla in a thrilling match by a score of 3-2 thanks to a goal by Abde Ezzalzouli in the 85th minute.

Earlier, Girona stunned Athletic Club 3-2 at San Mames while Celta Vigo easily defeated Valladolid 3-0 at Balados.
