David Warner, the starting pitcher for Australia, will miss the final two Test matches in India due to a concussion and an elbow fracture.

The 36-year-old left-hander, who was hit on the helmet on day two of the second Test in Delhi last week, was replaced by Matt Renshaw.

Warner, who was earlier elbowed, will go back to Australia for treatment.

India has a 2-0 series lead after winning the second Test by a margin of six wickets in just three days.

Warner is expected to return to India for the three one-day international matches beginning on March 17, according to Cricket Australia.

In the first two Tests, the former vice-captain scored just 26 runs over three innings.

Due to the Achilles injury that kept him out of the first two Test matches, Josh Hazlewood was this week declared out of the series.

Due to a family illness, captain and fellow pace bowler Pat Cummins has returned home, but he is anticipated to be back for the third Test, which starts on March 1 in Indore.

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc might be available following a finger issue, all-arounder Cameron Green has fully recovered from his finger injury, and leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is scheduled to fly back to India after the first Test to give birth to his first child.
