Ford announced comeback to Formula 1 in season 2026
After being absent from Formula 1 for more than 22 years, Ford has announced its return.
The team will make a comeback for the 2026 season after departing the circuit in 2004.
Ford is expected to reveal that starting in 2026, they will partner with Red Bull to partially fund its engine.
“Ford is a global brand with an incredible heritage in racing and the automotive world and they see the huge value that our platform provides with over half a billion fans around the world,” said F1 boss Stefano Domenicali.
Ford will want to add to its total of 10 constructors’ championships and 13 drivers’ championships. Ford has built the third-most successful engines in Formula One history.
The company’s chairman, Bill Ford, added: “This is the beginning of a thrilling new chapter in Ford’s motorsports saga, which began when my great-grandfather won a race that assisted in the founding of our company.”
F1 has seen a huge rise in popularity in the United States with three races already scheduled for 2023 and the start of the Las Vegas circuit this year.
This year, Las Vegas will host its first Grand Prix after Miami was added last year. Formula 1 coexists with Texas’s Circuit of the Americas as its popularity increases.
