Hassan Ali believes Shadab is capable of leading Pakistani squad
Shadab Khan, a friend and all-rounder, is capable of leading the Pakistani squad if given the opportunity, according to Hassan Ali.
Speaking to the media after Islamabad United’s first practise in preparation for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8, Hassan noted that Shadab has consistently shown himself to be a capable captain.
“If given the opportunity, Shadab is ready to head the Pakistan squad,” Hassan said when questioned about his friend taking over as captain of the Pakistan team in the future.
“He has demonstrated his captaincy in the PSL and has also performed admirably as captain of the Pakistan squad on several occasions. He is a potential cricketer who enjoys taking on new challenges. I believe he is capable of filling that function “He went on to say.
Two-time PSL champions United named Shadab as their new captain in 2020. The all-rounder now serves as Pakistan’s vice-captain in the white-ball format.
As he believes they are a well-rounded team, Hassan is happy to be a member of the Islamabad United family.
“I’ve been with Islamabad United for three years. Every year, they put up a well-balanced team. We have equal batting, fast and spin bowling capabilities, which is a good indicator. I know we haven’t won a trophy in a while, but I am confident that the players will give it their all this year to win the championship “He stated.
United last won the PSL title in 2018 under JP Duminy’s captaincy. Under Misbah-ul-guidance, Haq’s they also won the inaugural PSL season in 2016.
