Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive goal that gave Inter Milan the victory over AC Milan at the San Siro.

Inter, who are currently in second place in Serie A, are still 13 points behind Napoli, who earlier in the day defeated Spezia 3-0.

Hakan Calhanoglu, a former Milan player, delivered a corner, and captain Martinez headed the game’s lone goal.

Late in the game, Romelu Lukaku’s goal for Inter was disallowed for a foul on Malick Thiaw, while Martinez’s goal was disallowed for offside.

The decision to disallow Argentina striker Martinez’s effort because he was offside when he rushed onto Lukaku’s flick to score was upheld after a lengthy video assistance referee ruling.

Milan has dropped five of their previous six games across all competitions and is now sixth in Serie A.

Stefano Pioli’s team didn’t able to get a shot on goal until Andre Onana stopped Brahim Diaz in the 75th minute.

Thanks to their convincing victory against Spezia, Napoli still hold a solid grip on the championship. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia converted a penalty and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored twice.
