PSL 2023: According to the English daily The Telegraph, more England cricketers are set to follow in Alex Hales’ footsteps and choose lucrative franchise league contracts over their team’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh.

Three additional English players, Sam Billings, Liam Dawson, and James Vince of the Karachi Kings, are reportedly planning to fully participate in the current eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) rather than choose to represent their country.

From March 1 to 14, England will tour Bangladesh for three T20Is and as many ODIs, and the PSL will run from February 13 to March 19.

“Alex Hales will not be picked in the squad for Bangladesh as he is scheduled to remain at the Pakistan Super League where he has a lucrative agreement. “It is expected that Sam Billings, Liam Dawson, and James Vince will follow suit,” according to the source.

“England are happy for its non-contracted players to chase franchise chances with the likes of Billings, Dawson and Vince having spent plenty of time around the England setup since 2015, without being regulars in the XI.

“With franchises becoming more dominant, whether greater weight should be given to tour and match payments (now roughly £5,000 and £2,500 for ODIs and T20Is, respectively) rather than retainers has been highlighted by players electing not to play for England.”

The squad for the trip of Bangladesh will be announced this week, according to the report’s addition about the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selection committee.

It is important to note that Multan will host the magnificent opening ceremony for the highly anticipated PSL 8. In the curtain-raiser, the local team Multan Sultans will play the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars.
