Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Multan Sultans, says nobody is to blame for missing the first few Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons of the competition.

Prior to PSL 8, which gets underway on February 13 in Multan, Rizwan, who helped his team win the championship in 2021, gave these ideas.

Before joining Multan, Rizwan played for the Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, although he didn’t have many chances to show off his talent.

“I missed few matches in the early portion of the PSL, but I will not blame anyone. It’s all part of the game because each team has their own strategy and game plan, but I’m now putting more emphasis on each match I play so that I can make up for lost time,” Rizwan said on the PCB Podcast on Tuesday.

“Captaincy and batting can be difficult, but we have a great set of people who have not only empowered me but also backed and supported me so that I can find the perfect balance and continue to give my best,” he continued.

The difficulty of competing against some of Pakistan’s top bowlers in the PSL was another topic he discussed in detail.

“Taking on Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali is never easy. And since they have a wide variety of extremely quick and effective bowlers, this doesn’t only apply to me but to every batter as well. We are aware of each other’s strengths and faults, therefore it works both ways. However, they do have a tiny advantage since they have more chances to recover and dismiss the batsmen, and they are challenging bowlers for batters everywhere, he added.

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13 before the tournament’s first match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champion Multan Sultans; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.

Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
