Shaheen Shah Afridi, a prominent Pakistani bowler who wed on Friday, was upset that internet users published his wedding photos online without his permission, violating his right to privacy.

On Friday, shortly after Shaheen’s nikkah, images of the pacer and his wife were posted on social media.

“It’s very unfortunate that after many and repeated requests, our privacy was violated and people continued to share it without remorse,” Afridi tweeted on Saturday.

“I would like to sincerely thank everyone once again to gently coordinate with us and not try to destroy our wonderful big day,” he added.

Ansha, the daughter of renowned all-rounder Shahid Afridi, and Shaheen were married.

In Karachi, the nikkah was solemnised in front of close family members from both families at a nearby mosque.

Two years prior, the pair had previously announced their engagement.

Soon after the nikkah, a reception was also organised. Cricketers from Pakistan Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan were among those in attendance, as well as squash star Jahangir Khan.

Wasim Khan, general manager of the ICC, and Asim Saleem Bajwa, a former director general of the ISPR, were also present.

It should be remembered that the lanky pacer will captain Lahore Qalandars in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where his team is the defending champion.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined since sustaining a knee injury on November 13 during the T20 World Cup 2022 final against England, but he will return in the PSL 8.
