In a highly anticipated contest between amateur boxers in history, Tommy Fury defeated Jake Paul by split decision.

Fury was the more aggressive combatant, delivering more accurate strikes and demonstrating his fundamentals of boxing.

The eighth round saw YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul knock out the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

While the other two judges gave Fury a score of 76-73, one judge gave Paul a score of 75-74.

“For the past two years this is all that has consumed my life,” Fury said.

Everybody thought I was running scared, but tonight, I made my own legacy. This is my first main event, I am going to get bigger and better and if he wants a rematch, bring it on.”

Meanwhile, Paul, who got defeated in his first professional fight in seven games, said: “All respect to Tommy, he won. Don’t judge me by my wins, judge me by my losses. I don’t know if I agree with the judges, it is what it is, but that is the boxing world.”

The eight-round fight was attended by a number of famous people from the sports and entertainment industries, and many more people viewed it at home.

Celebrities, including player Cristiano Ronaldo and boxing legend Mike Tyson, were present in Riyadh’s outdoor Diriyah Arena.
