Lionel Messi, the FIFA World Cup champion for Argentina, ordered gold iPhones for each member of his squad and support staff who participated in the historic victory over France in the final in Qatar 2022.

The player’s names, numbers, and the Argentinian logo are engraved on the 24-carat devices, which are worth £175,000 (roughly Rs. 1.73 crore), according to a report in The Sun. On Saturday, Messi had them delivered to his apartment in Paris.

“Lionel wanted to do something special and blingy to celebrate his proudest moment,” a source told The Sun. He contacted entrepreneur Ben Lyons, and the two collaborated on the design.

“Lionel is not only the Goat, but he’s one of IDESIGN GOLD’s most loyal customers and got in touch with us a couple of months after the World Cup final,” said Ben, CEO of iDesign Gold. He stated that he wanted a special gift for all of the players and staff to commemorate the incredible win, but he did not want the usual gift of watches.

“So I suggested gold iPhones with their names engraved on them, and he loved the idea.”

Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to win their third world championship, and captain Lionel Messi took home the trophy for the first time.
