Shadab Khan, the captain of Pakistan for the T20I series against Afghanistan, urged spectators to cheer on the underage players.

Shadab tweeted while his route to Sharjah that he was thrilled to be in charge of a young and enthusiastic team.

“A dream for any Pakistani to captain the national cricket team. Can’t thank Allah enough. Really excited to lead this young team, loads of talent. We will try to play aggressive and progressive cricket. Remember to back the youngsters, they are our future,” he wrote.

Major members of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), including captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman, have been allocated relaxation days.

In the absence of Babar, the squad will be led by Shadab, the team’s vice-captain in the white-ball format. The national team for the Afghanistan series has included young players like Saim Ayub, Azam Khan, Ihsanullah, and Zaman Khan who did well in the recently finished Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8.
