PCB altered schedule of New Zealand’s tour to Pakistan
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday reconsidered the timetable of the restricted overs visit from New Zealand to Pakistan because of “races in Punjab”.
The PCB and New Zealand Cricket “unanimously” agreed to make “tweaks” to the tour, the board said in a statement today. The Blackcaps are scheduled to play five ODIs and five T20Is.
The itinerary was altered, according to sources, in light of the April 30 general elections in Punjab.
From April 14 to April 17, New Zealand will play three Twenty20 Internationals in Lahore. From April 20 to 26, they will travel to Rawalpindi for the final two Twenty20 Internationals and the first One-Day International.
The tour will come to an end in Karachi, with the remaining four One-Day Internationals scheduled for April 30 to May 7.
The PCB stated that the matches will count toward the ICC Team Rankings because this is an additional tour by the New Zealand cricket team.
The ODIs will also help Pakistan prepare for the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023. The T20Is, on the other hand, will help the PCB continue their rebuilding efforts for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies in June and July of that same year.
