Before the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 final, which is set for March 19 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, chairman of the management committee for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, made a plea to the chief minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi.

After PTI chairman Imran Khan announced a political public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on the final day of PSL 8, Sethi made a request to CM Punjab to ensure the safety of spectators attending the championship match.

Mohsin Naqvi, PSL 8 multi-million dollar final on 19 March will be played before 25k people at Gaddafi Stadium & 100m across the globe. This is Pakistan’s finest showcase. Punjab government must ensure failsafe security & smooth traffic flow to facilitate people’s access to the stadium,” he wrote.

On March 15, PSL 8 will reach its final stage with a qualifier between Multan Sultans and the host team Lahore Qalandars. In order to become the first side to successfully defend the PSL championship, table-toppers Lahore will try to advance to the final.

On March 16, the first elimination round will feature a match between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United. The second elimination round will take place on March 17 and pit losers of the first eliminator against the losing team from the qualifying.

The mega event’s final will follow on March 19 after a day off.
