Sarfaraz Ahmed, who is injured, will be replaced as Quetta Gladiators’ captain by Mohammad Nawaz for their upcoming Pakistan Super League match against Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday (today).

Sarfaraz, the Gladiators’ captain since the league’s inception in 2016, is expected to miss his team’s first PSL game in eight years. In his team’s final match against the Karachi Kings on Monday, he suffered a finger injury.

The source claims that because Sarfraz has not completely recovered from the niggle, he will not be playing against Zalmi on Wednesday.

Sarfaraz will be replaced in the starting XI by the Gladiators’ new wicket-keeper batter Bismillah Khan. Nawaz will assume the captaincy position in the interim.

It should be noted that the Gladiators have just two games left before the playoff round and are currently in last place in the PSL standings with 4 points.

Martin Guptill’s outstanding 86 under pressure helped Gladiators defeat Karachi Kings by four wickets in their most recent match in a low-scoring thriller.
