Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke another record on Saturday, becoming the Serie A’s oldest goalscorer, but it wasn’t enough as AC Milan lost 3-1 away to Udinese.

The Rossoneri needed a boost after only gaining one point in the previous two rounds. Due to the absence of Olivier Giroud, Ibrahimovic made his first start of the season late Saturday night.

Milan defender Ismael Bennacer’s erroneous pass sparked the home side’s counter-attack just nine minutes into the game. According to the report, Lazar Samardzic charged forward and assisted Roberto Pereyra in finishing with a low strike.

In the 45th minute, Ibrahimovic converted a retaken penalty, making him the oldest goalscorer at 41 years and 166 days. The previous record was set by another Milan legend, Alessandro Costacurta, who also scored from a penalty spot against Udinese in 2007.

The extra time before the break allowed Udinese to reclaim the lead when Isaac Success rolled across from the by-line and Beto converted from close range.

Udinese added a second goal in the 69th minute when Kingsley Ehizibue tapped the ball in at the back post to seal the victory, ending Ibrahimovic’s historic night.

Milan is still fourth with 48 points, but if Roma beats or draws Lazio on Sunday, they will drop to fifth.

On Saturday, Monza drew 1-1 with Cremonese, and Salernitana drew 2-2 with Bologna.
