Shaheen Afridi, a star pacer, has spoken out in support of Shahid Afridi, his father-in-law, who has been dragged into “dirty politics” due to a false statement about former prime minister Imran Khan.

“I ask you all to only consider Pakistan,” I say. The Pakistani cricketer issued a statement and shared a video of Shahid Afridi’s statement. “We should not indulge ourselves in any act which further divides us,” the statement read.

“Hum Sab ko apni apni fields me positive reh ker Pakistan ka haq Ada kerna hoga. Pakistan Noor hai or Allah pak is Noor Ki Hamesha hifazat farmayain ge, Ameen.”

“I have noticed since yesterday that a statement about former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being shared on social media under my name. This is very sad news. This is a very dirty political act by the person who is doing it. I neither wish to participate in this activity nor am I involved in it.

Clearly enraged, the former chief selector stated that he had the confidence to say whatever he wanted to say.

I never made such a statement on any of my social media accounts. Therefore, please refrain from involving me in this shady politics. Aap ko apki siasat mubarak ho. Serving this nation is all I care about in politics.
