Sri Lanka is scheduled to host the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup across January and February 2024. It is unclear at this stage whether the tournament will be able to go ahead as planned.
The suspension of the SLC is a major blow for Sri Lankan cricket. The country has been struggling on the field in recent years, and the suspension will make it difficult for the team to compete at the highest level.
The ICC’s decision to suspend the SLC is a reminder of the importance of autonomy in cricket. The ICC has a responsibility to ensure that all of its members are able to manage their affairs without government interference.
