Pakistani Cueists Take Early Lead in World Snooker Championship

In a thrilling start to the IBSF Men’s World Snooker Championship in Doha, Pakistani cueists Mohammad Naseem Akhtar and Babar Masih exhibited their exceptional skills and clinched victories in their respective group matches.

Mohammad Naseem Akhtar, competing in Group F, faced Finland’s Esa Oikarinen and managed to secure a 4-2 victory. The match had the audience on the edge of their seats as it was evenly poised at 2-2 during one stage. However, Naseem showcased remarkable discipline and demonstrated terrific potting ability, winning the remaining two frames with substantial margins.

In the first frame, Naseem won with a score of 54-19 but momentarily lost focus in the second frame, conceding it 7-85. However, he quickly regained his composure and secured the third frame with a dominant score of 81-0, taking a 2-1 lead. Naseem’s highest break of 54 in the frame left spectators captivated. Esa Oikarinen fought back in the fourth frame, defeating Naseem 64-46 to level the score at 2-2.

Undeterred by this setback, Naseem demonstrated a remarkable display of confidence and skill. He executed impressive wins of 98-9 and 96-0 in the last two frames, sealing a solid victory.

Babar Masih, competing in Group K, faced Oman’s Husain Allawati. After losing the first frame 39-52, Babar displayed strong determination and fought back, winning the next four frames convincingly to secure a fantastic 4-1 victory.

Babar leveled the score at 1-1 by winning the second frame with a score of 69-30. He continued to dominate with his killer instinct, winning the next three frames with scores of 75-5, 71-58, and 71-16, ultimately sealing an emphatic triumph.

The impressive performance by these Pakistani cueists on the opening day of the championship has set a positive tone for their journey in the tournament, leaving fans excited for their upcoming matches.
