The all-rounder for Pakistan, Shadab Khan, participated in a practice session in Bengaluru today. He sustained a concussion during the team’s game against South Africa, which prevented him from playing against Bangladesh.

Shadab’s availability for the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023 matches will be decided once the medical panel evaluates his fitness later today.

During the match against the Proteas, the right-armer rushed towards the ball and threw it towards the stumps from mid-on, but he landed awkwardly on his shoulder and struck his head on the ground, injuring him.

It should be mentioned that Usama Mir was substituted for the 24-year-old due to a concussion, which prevented him from bowling or fielding against South Africa.

In place of Shadab, Usama was also included in Pakistan’s squad for the match against Bangladesh.

“Shadab Khan suffered a concussion in Pakistan’s match vs South Africa. After a thorough assessment, the medical panel had no choice but to rule him out of the match against Bangladesh,” PCB had said in a press release on Tuesday.

“This was Shadab’s third concussion since September last year. He had a collision with his Sussex teammate while fielding in the Vitality T20 Blast in May this year and previously during Asia Cup final last year in Dubai, when his head crashed into Asif Ali’s elbow while fielding.

“Every precaution is being taken, keeping in mind his health and wellbeing. He will continue to be assessed over the coming days.”
