The Sindh Premier League (SPL) is set to debut in December, showcasing the talent and culture of Sindh province and introducing young cricketers to the global stage.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori made the announcement during a Roadshow for the SPL in London, attended by members of the British-Pakistani community.

The league will feature six teams representing different cities in Sindh: Benazirabad Reds, Hyderabad Bahadurs, Karachi Gladiators, Sukkur Patriots, Khairpur Royals, and Larkana Challengers. Matches will be played at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi from December 14-25, 2023.

“The purpose of Sindh Premier League is to introduce the young cricketers of Sindh to the world level and to provide them with opportunities to play with local and foreign players and also to train them from international cricket academies,” said Tessori.

The SPL aims to not only promote cricket but also highlight the rich culture of Sindh. Tessori urged overseas Pakistanis to support the league and contribute to the progress of Pakistan.

“No matter whatever passport you have, Pakistan will always be your home and home to your coming generations,” he said.

SPL Chairman Aslam Malik stated that the league will bring forward Pakistani talent, particularly from Sindh, to the global stage. CEO SPL Chaudhry Shahzad Akhtar emphasized that Pakistan will continue to use cricket as a medium for global connections and mutual cooperation, with the SPL playing a pivotal role.

President SPL Arif Malik highlighted the league’s high standards, comparable to international cricket leagues, and the participation of national and international players. He also announced the appointment of renowned cricketers Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq as SPL ambassadors.
