Nida Dar
In Tuesday’s opening One-Day International against New Zealand, Pakistani skipper Nida Dar took a blow to the face.
In the 44th over of New Zealand’s innings, Dar was injured.
“Pakistan captain Nida Dar was taken off the field after being struck on her face while bowling in the 44th over of the New Zealand innings in the first ODI at John Davies Oval in Queenstown. After assessing Nida’s condition, the team physio has determined that Nida will not take any further part in today’s ODI,” the PCB said in a press release.
As permitted by match referee Trudy Anderson, Sadaf Shamas entered the game in lieu of Dar.
For the duration of the game, Fatima Sana led the team in lieu of the regular captain.
“The decision on Nida’s participation in the remaining matches of the series will be made in due course,” the PCB added.
Due to a finger injury, right-arm fast bowler Diana Baig was ruled out of the ODI series prior to the match, which saw Pakistan lose by 131 runs.
“28-year-old Diana, while fielding in a practice session, suffered an injury to the index finger of her bowling arm. Immediately after the incident, she was taken to a local hospital for a thorough examination, including an X-ray,” the PCB said.
“The medical reports have confirmed a horizontal fracture in Diana Baig’s index finger, making her unavailable for the ODI series against the White Ferns. The PCB medical team is closely monitoring her condition, and she will undergo further assessments to determine the extent of the injury and the necessary course of action for her recovery.”
