Mathieu Flamini the former Arsenal midfielder, has not only excelled on the football pitch but has also emerged as a business magnate, with his company now valued at an astonishing £21 billion. Surprisingly, this figure dwarfs the net worth of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo by over 40 times.

While Ronaldo boasts an illustrious football career, laden with numerous records, domestic and European trophies, Flamini’s success extends far beyond the realm of sports. The French midfielder, who plied his trade at Arsenal from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2016, laid the groundwork for his business venture during his stint at AC Milan.

Teaming up with his business partner Pasquale Granata, an economics graduate, Flamini founded ‘GF Biochemicals’ with a mission to revolutionize the energy industry. Their focus was on producing levulinic acid, a synthetic oil substitute derived from wood and corn waste. The company’s breakthrough came in 2015 when it became the first in the world to mass-produce this innovative acid, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional oil in various manufacturing processes.

Flamini’s commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness was evident from his early years, growing up near the sea in Marseille. This passion for addressing environmental issues steered him towards combining his love for football with a broader goal of contributing to a greener future.

Retiring from professional football in 2019 at the age of 39, Flamini had invested millions into his company, solidifying his role as the official CEO. The success of GF Biochemicals has not only earned him acclaim in the business world but also garnered recognition as one of the People of the Year in 2015 by the NME.

The company’s remarkable valuation of £21 billion has now surpassed Ronaldo’s impressive net worth of £500 million by a staggering 40-fold. While Ronaldo continues to make headlines for his on-field prowess and lucrative endorsements, Flamini’s entrepreneurial venture has quietly become a force to be reckoned with, making waves in the business and sustainability spheres. This remarkable achievement serves as a testament to Flamini’s vision, dedication, and success beyond the football pitch.
