Babar Azam, the outstanding batsman for Pakistan, has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings with the release of the most recent update on Wednesday.

The ICC reports that the former captain of Pakistan has 824 rating points.

Virat Kohli, 775, and Shubman Gill, 810, of India are in second and third positions, respectively.

Following Gill’s removal from the top rank due to rest for the current series against South Africa, Azam took over.

On the T20I bowlers rankings, England’s leg-spinner Adil Rashid has risen two spots to the top, surpassing Rashid Khan of Afghanistan in second position and Ravi Bishnoi of India in third.

With the departure of off-spinner Graeme Swann more than ten years ago, Rashid becomes the second English player to hold the top rating among T20I bowlers.

After scoring a quick century in the final match of India’s series against South Africa, Suryakumar Yadav extended his lead to 100 rating points. His nearest competitors are Aiden Markram of South Africa and Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan.

In the most recent Test batting rankings, Australia’s Usman Khawaja (up three spots to fourth) is above Azam and is now within striking reach of the top-ranked Kane Williamson following the team’s victory over Pakistan in Perth.

After a strong showing against Pakistan, David Warner, Khawaja’s colleague, has also risen nine spots to 27th, and Mitchell Marsh has improved 12 spots to equal 68th.

While India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin remains at the top of the rankings, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has moved up one spot to third, Nathan Lyon has gained three spots to fifth, Mitchell Starc has moved up two spots to eighth, and Josh Hazlewood has moved up two spots to tenth.
