In a pre-match press conference on Friday, Manchester United’s head coach, Erik Ten Hag, provided updates on the injury status of key players as The Red Devils gear up for a pivotal league encounter against West Ham United at London Stadium on Saturday.

Despite a challenging season marked by an early exit from the UEFA Champions League and slim chances in the Premier League title race, Manchester United has faced additional setbacks with injuries to crucial players such as Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and new signing Mason Mount.

Ten Hag confirmed that Martinez and Casemiro are expected to make their return in January, offering a glimmer of hope for the squad. “Now we have some doubts, some illnesses during the week,” Ten Hag stated. “We have to see who is available for tomorrow, hopefully, they are recovered, we have to see.”

However, the Dutchman revealed that 11 players are either ruled out or facing doubts for Saturday’s clash. Regarding the specific timelines for key players’ returns, Ten Hag stated, “They [Casemiro and Martinez] are not available before Christmas, mid-January we expect them back. Mason Mount, similar into January. Harry Maguire, I expect him early on.”

The injury concerns extend to Victor Lindelof, who recently underwent surgery and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Ten Hag explained, “Victor Lindelof is not available; he has had surgery. He will be out for a couple of weeks. He had a problem, personal, he has to do the surgery.”

As Manchester United aims for a crucial victory against West Ham, Ten Hag faces the challenge of managing a squad depleted by injuries. The last time The Red Devils secured a win at the London Stadium was in September 2021, with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard. Ten Hag will be seeking to turn the tide and secure a positive result against David Moyes’ side, with hopes of climbing the league table if other results go in their favor on the same day.
