Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Chelsea, marking the London side’s third defeat in four Premier League matches.

The game started with Armando Broja missing a golden opportunity for Chelsea, failing to connect with Malo Gusto’s low cross. Despite early pressure from Gary O’Neil’s team, it was Wolves who broke the deadlock in the second half. Mario Lemina capitalized on a corner from Pablo Sarabia, heading in unmarked and putting the home side in the lead.

Chelsea struggled to find their rhythm, with Cole Palmer off his usual form, and Raheem Sterling missing several chances. Wolves extended their lead in injury time when Hugo Bueno’s cross found Matt Doherty, who emphatically slotted home their second goal.

Christopher Nkunku, a substitute for Chelsea, scored his first goal for the team in the dying minutes, providing a glimmer of hope. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered their third consecutive away defeat in the league.

Raheem Sterling was a constant threat for Chelsea, but a missed opportunity and a feeble shot at Wolves’ goalkeeper summed up the visitors’ struggles. Wolves had their share of opportunities, with Sarabia and Hwang coming close in the first half.

The second half saw Wolves maintaining their urgency, with Gomes and Toti testing Chelsea’s defense. Lemina’s second-half goal, a header from Sarabia’s corner, proved decisive for the home side.

Pochettino introduced Nkunku, who nearly provided a lifeline for Chelsea but was denied on the goal line by Toti. Despite Sterling’s late efforts and a heroic block from Craig Dawson, Wolves secured the victory.

In the dying moments, Wolves capitalized on a poor clearance, with Doherty making no mistake to seal the 2-1 win. Nkunku headed in from Sterling’s cross minutes later, but the late comeback was witnessed by only a few Chelsea fans, as most had left the stadium.
